Saberr were challenged to to use their Team Optimisation Tool to make predictions as to the potential for the founding team to prove a reliable investment.

The outcome

Saberr successfully predicted which members of founding teams would leave their startup within 6 months of receiving investment.

The challenge

TechStars is a mentorship-driven startup accelerator founded by David Cohen, Brad Feld, David Brown, and Jared Polis that holds 13 week programs for startups in Boulder, New York City, Boston, Seattle, San Antonio, Austin and London.

Our action

Saberr were challenged to predict the performance of TechStars’ Seattle cohort in the autumn of 2013. Saberr used their Team Optimisation tool to assess the interpersonal dynamics or ‘culture fit’ between the team members in each of the startup companies.

The outcome

Saberr accurately predicted employee engagement in TechStars autumn cohort.

A number of individuals decided to leave their startups, at great emotional risk.

In every case, the individual who left the startup had the lowest average culture fit with the rest of their team, as measured by Saberr’s Team Optimisation Tool.

The lower their Saberr score, the faster they left.

Saberr’s ability to predict the attrition rate of employees has far reaching implications for ROI forecasting on recruitment practices.
